Samsung Galaxy S7 teased in official video before announcement

Samsung's newest flagship phone isn't set to be unveiled until next week, but the company's Indonesian branch is making headlines early with a website and promotional video that shows an unnamed Galaxy device charging wirelessly and being used in the rain.

The video shows a day in the life of Indonesian archer Dellie Threesyadinda, whose life just so happens to feature a Galaxy phone strongly resembling last year's S6 Edge.

The surrounding teaser site asks "What's Next?", although unfortunately the video offers more questions than answers.

Threesyadinda is shown using the phone with the official Samsung Galaxy wireless charging pad and the Gear S2 smartwatch, both of which worked with last year's phones.

While some have taken a scene showing Threesyadinda using the phone in the rain to mean the new device will be water resistant - a feature Samsung dropped in recent phones to the chagrin of its user base - the Indonesian website indicates that might not be the case.

"The scene in the video is for dramatisation purposes only," the website states in a disclaimer.

"This product is not water resistant and it should not be exposed to and/or submerged into water/liquid."

Of course the disclaimer doesn't discount the possibility that a brand new phone announced next week could be water resistant.

Other features rumoured to be included in the new phone - including the return of the MicroSD card slot, a pressure sensitive screen and a retina scanner - are not hinted at in the video.

No names have been revealed for the upcoming phones, nor are any suggested by the teaser video, but it seems overwhelmingly likely to be called the Galaxy S7 (a timeline on the Indonesian site even has a list of all the Galaxy S phones, with a not-so-enigmatic "?" displayed after the S6).

What isn't clear is how many variants of the new phone we'll see unveiled next week. Previous leaks have suggested a Galaxy S7 with a 5.1-inch screen and a 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge.

All will be revealed when Samsung takes the stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday, February 21,
