Moto X Force
At the top of camera phone list is the Moto X Force. Its 21MP sensor captures stunning colours that really bring things to life. It’s also got one of the best camera apps we’ve used for simple photography. All the settings are easy-to-use and find so you can tweak your shots to perfection.
Sony Xperia Z5
Sony Xperia Z5 capture moments the same as the Moto X Force. Sony’s big party piece is night time photography - the photos it takes in dim conditions are so bright that you’ll be sure the flash went off. But the Z5 doesn’t need the flash, which saves battery and means you don’t blind your friends. On top of that low light performance, you get a sharp 23MP sensor that captures colours and details beautifully.
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P
While Google’s new phones are made by two different manufacturers (the Nexus 5X is LG and the Nexus 6P is Huawei), they both have the same fantastic camera. Weighing in at 12.3MP, these phones don’t take the biggest pictures in this list, but their photos are brighter and have more accurate colours. And 12.3MP is still big enough to print out if you take some really impressive shots.
LG G4
LG pulled out all the stops for the camera in the G4. Not only does its 13MP sensor capture minute details and perfect colours, the app also gives you full manual controls, letting you shoot like a pro. And if you don’t know your ISO from your aperture, the auto mode makes taking great photos simple.
Microsoft Lumia 950
Carl Zeiss lenses, optical image stabilisation, triple LED flash… with features like these, it’s no wonder the Microsoft Lumia 950 is one of the best camera phones around. Its 20MP photos are sharp and colourful, and there’s even a manual mode that lets you play with the settings to create unique shots.
